Yes, think CZ.

The only thing I did to my CZ Hornet was adjust the trigger. Took maybe 10mins. and has a nice 2lb. pull. I don't use the set trigger much(13ozs.).
My Cz regularly shoots 5 shot groups from 3/4-1/2ins. at 100yds. with a 35gr. VMax and 13.5grs. of Lil'Gun, CCI small pistol primers.

The 46gr. hps. in Win. bulk shoot under 1in. and step out at 3005 fps. with 13grs. Lil'Gun.

Also have a like new #1B Ruger Hornet that shoots just about as accurate that I would like to sell--$475 shipped. Pete

My wife shoots the CZ Hornet. Best group to date has been under 1/4 inch. 13 grains of Lil'Gun under 35 grain V-Max.

I also have a CZ527 in 22 Hornet. Was going to rebarrel it when I got it in trade but I took it out an shot it. It is going to stay a Hornet. The CZ has a very nice and tight chamber and I have no problem nailing sage rats with the 35gr Hornadys. I use Lil Gun and a bunch of 680 and 1680 I happened to have.

I don't really like the Hornet case design, but it works. I'd prefer the 218 Bee case for a rimmed .22 centerfire.

RELOAD - ITS FUN!

How tight is your chamber? The reason I ask is that I have a BRNO Fox in 22 Hornet that has a very tight chamber. It seems to take an extraordinary amount of pressure to close the bolt even with factory ammunition and I've considered having the chamber re-reamed. I ground a little off the top of a shell holder and that seems to help. I haven't shot the thing in years but recently I've had the urge to take it out again.

I have the CZ in .22 Hornet and am so happy that I have ordered one chambered in .221 Fireball. A little more horese power than the Hornet and all the accuracy of the Triple Duece. To me that is a niche that needs to be filled.

I also use a case full of Lil Gun and 35 or 40 grain pills and CCI small rifle primers. But as someone posted before, my best groups came from WW680. Just from curiosity I loaded some old round nose Sierras ( before ballistic tips ) that were gathering dust just to see what type of groups they would turn in. I was very pleasantly surprised at their performance, and since they shoot to the same POI as 40 grain Sierra Blitzs at 100 yards I have been using them on groundhogs this year.

I just got back from the range today after putting 60 some rounds through my .222 527 CZ American. The 60 rounds consisted of 10 different bullets and loadings. I really like the style of this little rifle but it really doesn't produce great repeatability so far and I've been shooting it for more than a year. I shoot other MOA rifles and they still do their thing so I eliminated me as the variable.

I like to take a rifle out of the box and it shoots good. I don't want to try this and that any more to compensate for something or other. This Is why I focused on the Savage origanally but left an option for the CZ.To be honest I'm just a little cold right now on the CZ. The results that I witnessed today indicate that I should be thinking another RUGER. I was looking at less than 1/4" to 3/8" groups at 50 yards. The best i did was 3/4" group at 50 yards and that only one time. homerroger

Dan .I remember that the bruno foxes in hornet used to have alsorts of head spaceing probs. The other thing was the earlier models had .223 chambers & bores rather than .224 .As for the Savage the last I ever heard (and it's probarly aincent history ) was the mod 340..Which streached cases with warm loads due to the fact it was a rear locking action & they also suffered headspace problems.A Mate brought one in 30-30 & learnt all about head case seperation the hard way
