t-h,

Depends on how efficient you desire it to be but, whatever floats your boat; 17"-21" will do just fine. With the Martini I'd go 20" and call it quits.

I cut my CZ 455 at 18 inches. The accuracy don't suffer, and the vel keeps up pretty well.

If it was me I would be much more concerned with getting the balance right than velocity.

That said, my Ruger 77/17 has a 24" barrel on it. I never gave any thought to it lossing velocity because of the barrel length. I may have to shoot some through a chrono to see whats happening. Reguardless of the results I won't be cutting it.

Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

I concur 100%... make it portable for the field..

if you are limited to shots at 100 yds/meters or less... then about as short as is legal where ever one lives...

one that mirrors the size of the Ruger Frontier would be just "peachy keen".....
