I haven't loaded the silver tip. I do load the 95gr BT in a MKX 243. I use RL22 and seat the bullet a touch longer. My load is above the max listed in my Nosler book. Nosler does list RL22 as the most accurate tested with the 90-95gr bullets.

As usual just my $.02

I don't load that bullet, but I load the 90 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip and my gun likes IMR4350 for that weight bullet. (I use Varget for lighter weight bullets.)

I have been reloading the 95 NBT and is easy to group. My best performance was with let out bullets fired one at a time, to long for the magazine.

Get the Nosler reloading manual - don't take a chance with internet loads.

I rely a lot on H 414 for accurate loads in the 243 when I want faster velocity...

otherwise, I load a lot of 4064 and Rl 15 for a lot of medium velocity loads...

and RL 7 for a lot of lower velocity and recoil loads, especially for off season shooting..easy on the shoulder and easy on barrel life..

I load 95g Ballistic Silvertips and 42.5g Hybrid 100V for a Sako 243-.010 off the rifleing and it shoots very well. Good Luck. Rides Alone

I'm of the opinion that this bullet is merely a color variant of the ballistic tip.

I recently loaded 50 rounds using Winchester supreme 780 and find that powder meters beautifully and yields impressive performance.

Nother vote for 4350. I use the H variety in my 243s and have never had cause for complaint.

It is in fact the same as a ballistic tip with a silver polymer insert and black moly coating.
You can check with Nosler and they will answer in the affirmative or refuse to answer because they manufacture it for a customer. They've told me both.

Don't know. Don't have a chrony. The load is straight from the Nosler manual though. They list it at a tad over 3000fps in a 24" bbl.

I just chrono'd that load with 95 gr. partition in a 22" barrel. It was only going 2650 fps.

You must have a very loose barrel or your chrony is out of calibration.

Humbarger: Did you really load your .243 out to an OAL of 2.935"? That is longer than the magazine of all of my .243's, most of which limit bullet length to 2.8" or so.

Sure did. I did not thank to mention that that measurement is useing a comparator. My mistake. I'll measure the oal to the bullet tip in the AM. Remember that is is a Mauser 98 not a SA Remy action. I do not pay attention to book oal limits. I am concerned with the distance from the bullet to the lands.

AM addition: OAL without the comparator is 2.780 .015 off the lands.

When I was shooting a 243, I used the same load as D Humbarger, which consisted of 41.5gr IMR 4350 over a 100gr BT with great results.

I have a Ithica/Tikka M-55 in 243.
It is very happy to digest just about anything and spit it out at under and inch.
My hunting load is IMR-4350 with the Nosler 95 gr PT.
My varmint load IMR-4895 with the 75 gr Sierra FBHP.
Once for a lark I made up this load..85 gr Nosler Zippedo's with some ancient Blc2, cci mag rifle primers and some old win cases.
They shot to 5/8"! LOL
Just some old components I had given to me but it sure shot well.

Jim,

Get a new Nosler loading book and work up to max slowly. Wanting another 50fps by going over listed max loads is not worth the risk of having 65,000 psi blow out into your face. IMHO

The book Cartridges of the World makes a statement that the 243 Win can have erratic performance but does not elaborate. Anyone know what they are basing this claim on?

I don't know for sure. But some of them aren't very fast with bullets in the 100 gr range.
