A friend asked me about one of these, an 700 ADL in 223. How does the accuracy compare to the VLS. He's looking for a varmit gun to use on the ocassional crow, fox, &etc and wonders if the extra money for a heavy barrel VLS is worth it. Barrel heating won't be a problem. thanks capt david

Hmmm...occasional crow and fox...sounds like he'll be using this for off-hand shots, and infrequently. I'd go with the ADL for a carry rifle, but definitely the VLS if shots are going to be from a bench, table w/bipod, etc. For his purpose, the ADL sounds like a better fit, though for high volume colony varmint, bench/target shooting, and as far as looks go, I'd pick the VLS...the ADLs are usually plenty accurate...

the adl would be a great choice. it is lighter that the VLS and it will take the high round count. for less than a $100 he can have a laminate stock for it.
