I picked up a 223 wssm the other day and want to try the 70 TSX in it. I would like any powder recommendations or experience with this combo.

I had a 22-250 that liked the 70 grain speers. I know the TSX is a lot longer but the 22-250 had a 1-14 twist I believe. 1971 Rem BDL.

This rifle is a super shadow mod 70 with a 1-10 twist.

My son has owned a Browning 223wssm for about 5 years now. The heaviest bullet he's shot is a 60gr Vmax and 60gr Btip. We used RL19 for the Vamx and 4831sc for the Btip, gettting about 3,700 from each.

I use the 45gr Barnes XLC in my 22Hornet and 222remmag, as well as TSX's in 243, 270 and various 30cals.

I have a 26 inch .223 9 twist that stabilizes them well, and a 20 inch 9 twist that won't stabilize them at all.

With a 10 twist barrel you'll be lucky to stabilize them if you push them really hard.

I have a 24" 1:10" twist 22.250 that won't stabilize the 75 grain AMax. How long is the TSX in comparison?

I haven't personally owned the 223wssm, or shot the 70gr TSX's, but from what I have seen over the years on a few boards the WSM/WSSM's tend to like the lighter side of bullet weights for caliber, pushed really hard.

If you think every possible niche has been filled already, thank a wildcatter!

You are in a "shoot it and see" situation. Both of my balistic programs show it takes 54,000 Cups(too high) to do 3700fps. At that speed it would take 1/9". If the bullet did not have a boattail it would would work in a 1/11". Another Barnes bullet that will only work in a non-factory barrel. But if it was not bt than you would lose that 3/4" of drop at 300yrds and that is important to everyone. NOT!

Shot some of these this last weekend.

They looked to stabilize just fine.

I shot two different powders or was it three? Dont remember, my notes are in my car.

Anyways minimum velocity was 3500 fps.

Thanks for the test. I shoot the 62 grain in an 8 twist bushmaster, but never thought to try them in the super short with the slow twist. I'll have to give them a try.

I have a Browning WSSM and it doesn't like the 70TSX. As said above, my 25 and 223WSSM's like to be pushed hard.

Give it a try in your and let us know. Different applications, but I have a H-Bar 223AI bolt gun and a LMT 1/8 AR that shoot the 70 TSX very well.
