I was at a gun show on the weekend and picked up a box of Speer 70 gr in 243. The box was factory sealed and I did not open them. When I got home I discovered that they were moly coated, ( must not have had my glasses on at the gun show). I have never used moly coated bullets and don't expect to start using them. My 243, a Rem 700BDL with standard weight barrel, is used mostly for 100 yard target and varmint shooting. My question is,if I use up these 100 moly coated and then go back to standard copper jacketed bullets am I going to create a fouling/cleaning problem? I offered them to a friend but he wasn't interested.

firemanjim/ If you shoot the molly coated bullets over the copper already in the barrel it will "seal" the copper in the barrel and prevent the bore solvent from removing the copper for many many cleanings....this is why you MUST super clean a barrel before going to molly bullets....this is from reading and board feedback and I haven't switched between molly and plain since going to molly bullets.....good luck and good shooting!!

Ditto Bigdaddy - Moly is not something you want to play with unless you intend to shoot it exclusively. Shooting moly is like a marriage - for better or worse, till the end of time. Actually, I shoot a lot of moly in various target and varmint guns. It is great if you know how to maximize its benefits and it can be a pain in the butt if you don�t.
