Problem with CZ527 magazine

I have a feeding problem with my CZ527 in 6.5 Grendel, and I think it is due to the magazine. The spring seems weak, and the cartridges are "canted" in the magazine so that when the bolt is pushed forward, the rim of the cartridge is too low and the bolt rides over it. For each cartridge, I have to push the cartride down at the neck so it levels out, and then the bolt will pick it up. Has anyone else experienced this and know of a solution?

most of my problems are with the spring having too much tension, I would suggest taking the spring out of the clip and stretching it

in times when one needs a rifle, he tends to need it very badly.....PHC

SmilerBefore you start tweeking bending or stretching study it with an eye loop if you have one. I just did on my 527 magazine and found out that by design it is prone to do just what you are complaining about. The spring force is directed to the front of the magazine.

I had previously stoned the sharp edges of the magazine rails by hand to get smoother feeding.I can see now by removing more of the rail edge from the center of the rails to the front some of the problem will be eliviated. If you do not feel that this is your problem or are just not comfortable with this corrective action please don't try it. If you do start with a relatively course stone and finish with something finer. When I say by hand that means no power tools. thumbroger

WinkI just got thru re-stoneing mine and it improved it a whole bunch. The idea is that the case should be contacting all along both rails; no gaps between rails and case. That is what I finally wound up with and the feed is definitely smoother. Hell, if it doesn't work you can always stretch that spring. shameroger

I ended up narrowing the mag lips towards the front and widening them at the rear of the magazine. That, with bending the top and bottom pieces of the spring to produce more pressure solved the problem. The base of the cartridge is now high enough to be stripped from the magazine by the built. Still, I think I'll order another one from CZ just to see if it is any different...
