I have come across a Remington Guide Gun, Model 673 in 6.5 Remington Mag. Any experiences with the gun? Not a fan of the vent rib, but I always wanted a 6.5 to play with. I figure it will be a nice little carrying rifle. Hows the 6.5? Not too concerned with heavy bullets, as it would be a deer rifle, if anything. Smith

Gotta love any cartridge that can throw a 100gr. bullet at 3500fps... I have a 673 in .350 mag and love it, shark fin sight, rib and all. Regards, Robert ****************************** H4350! It stays crunchy in milk longer!

I too have a 673 in .350 rem mag. It makes for a nice pack rifle. It also has the tendancy to recoil straight back keeping the sights on target unlike most rifles. The 6.5 should be good for deer and antelope. John

Many people have compared the 6,5 Rem mag to the 270 Winchester as a deer cartridge, not bad company to be in. In addition the Scandinavians have shot even moose with heavy bullets in their 6.5x55. I would use 120 to 140 gr bullets for deer sized game and Premium 140 to 160 gr bulletrs for the bigger stuff. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

Thanks gentleman. I really don't need the rifle, but I can't pass up the price. I am a fan of the 6.5, as I had a 6.5x55 rifle in the past. Easy to load and shoot. I would expect the same from the 6.5, + some. Just have to convince the wife now. Smith

Dunno what price you're looking @ but these 673s in 6.5 are currently bringing right around $500, sometimes slightly less on most of the popular gun auction/listing sites.
