I really thinks it depends on whether you are talking about factory or hand loads. I have found the 6mm Rem to respond very well to good hand loads. I have a custom mauser with a 20" barrel in 6mm. I have been able to work up loads that shot a ragged hole at 100 yards, about .3". On the other hand, I have seen this same rifle shoot 1.5" with some factory ammo. Your m700 should do as well or better than my mauser. As to what is normal? I would have no idea... Pete

What is the normal accuracy to expect from a Rem. 700 VLS 6MM Rem.? bglenn

I've been working with 107 gr bullets and a surplus powder equiveant to IMR 4831 in mine, and I'm seeing groups below one inch at 100 meters so far. I think it can do better, so a little tuning is in order. - Dan

Hello bglenn, Glad you asked. I also have a Remington VLS in 6mm Rem. I think it's going to be a good one, but sometimes it takes a while to arrive at a rifles true accuracy. One thing I'm noticing is that the slower powders like IMR4831, 4350 and Rel-19 aren't always the best. IMR4895 is giving me my best results thus far, especially with Nosler 70gr. Bal. Tips and Sierra 85gr. HPBTs. Most of my groups (5 at 100yds) are between .5" and .7". I'm satisfied considering this is my first year with this rifle. One problem I'm having with my VLS is with the shoulder being blown out. I neck size with Wilson dies which don't bump the shoulder back. With most calibers this is no problem, but it is in my 6mm Rem. I now use two dies for sizing. A Redding bump die for the shoulders and my Wilson for the necks. The rifle is quite stable due to its heaviness. Initially I was disappointed, but gradually the group size is decreasing. Best wishes. Cal - Montreal
