Go to www.Gunsamerica.com and enter 976695938 in the search window (I tried to create a link but it would not take for some reason). I know Model 70s have increased in price lately, but this is rediculous!

It's obviously a typo. BTW, it's a .25WSSM, so it belongs in 'Small Bores', even at that price. George

Pre 64 Win 70 30-06 go un purchased at gunshows at $650. I put a Marlin pump shotgun on Gunsamerica for $400 and it sold after 6 months. It would have sold fast for $200 at a show.

saw 2 yesterday for $625 each... both were .270, 1 was a rebarrel, 1 was a featherweight...neither was spectacular... if it had been a .264, i'd have bought 1.... go big or go home ........ DSC-- Life Member NRA--Life member DRSS--9.3x74 r Chapuis

I would like to find a honest Pre'64 Model 70 in .30'06, or any caliber for $650.00. Yesterday at the gun show in Medina, Ohio I only saw two Pre'64 Model 70's. Both early 50's guns the .270 was priced at $1250.00, and the .30'06 which was in slightly better shape priced at $1,650.00! I know this is a premium price for this gun. The prices have gone up considerabley on the Pre'64 Model70 over the last year. Just look at Cabela's Gun Room, or any of the Dealers who sell the Model 70 on the Gun Room site. I just wish I would of bought afew more when I could aford them. I don't see the prices falling any time soon!

BTW, the price on the Model 70 that sparked this thread is $82,500.00. Now that's what I call inflation!

I never had any intentions of getting rid of my Model 70s before Winchester ceased production of them... NOW I really have no intention of getting rid of them...So I have passed them on to my son... and I sure hope he appreciates and keeps them just like I did!

It just proves that P.T.Barnum was right.

they are only going up in asking, not selling prices. Sheesh! I see an occasional original Krag in mint condition at the gunshow 1st thing Saturday morning at 9am for $750-$800. At 4pm on Sunday they are $400-$450...and go home with the guy that brought them. Unless you are building a 375-length cartridge they have absolutely ZERO more value than a good Obendorf M98. The prices on Gunbroker.com are considerably lower but even those are higher that they should be and many aren't completely original. I went to a live auction two weeks ago where there were 6 pre-64s...all completely original in excellent shape. The Hornet sold for $1750, the 220 Swift and the 264 Win Mag both sold for 1050, the 300 H&H went for $900, and 30-06 and 270 went for $750-$800. This is closer to the true value...

A .300 H&H for $900.00! What a great deal! I would like to buy one in original condition for that price.

That actually is about right for a 300 H&H. The last three I bought were around that amount. There are two types of people in the world: those that get things done and those who make excuses. There are no others.

Well I must be loking in the wrong places. Hopefully I will find one for that price. Thanks for your information FMC.

The beauty though is that many of the Pre 64 H&H (both 300 & 375) Mod 70s were cloverleaf tangs, even after the change to the curved tang. There are two types of people in the world: those that get things done and those who make excuses. There are no others.

I think I saw a post 64 win 94 30-30 for $1,000,000 on gunsamerica. It has not sold yet. Those are on the secondary market, and they can ask anything. In the Feb Shotgun News CDNN is advertising brand new Win 70 .223 WSSM stainless rifles for $499.99. They have a few different models, some like the Stealth II 25 WSSM go for as high as $599.99. But then rifles with short actions and big bolt faces is why Win went belly up. 7mmWSM package: Win 70 Super Shadow With Simmons 3x9x40 installed and bore sighted Integrated blind system to reduce weight. 3 position safety Advanced composite stock COntrolled round pusheed action 6 pounds Complete package on $449.99 1885 Creedmore 45-90 $2299.99
