Anyone have any experience with a 22" barreled 25-06? All the 25-06s I've had in the past had 24" or 26" barrels. What kind of numbers can I expect from a 22" barrel? TIA.

If you lose 20 to 40 fps per inch, my answer would be 40 to 80 fps less than the 24" barrels you've used.

I have one of those Savage package guns, with a 22" barrel, and it kills deer as well as any 24" gun, they can't seem to tell the difference. It's a little noisier, but I don't care. Essentially, I still get 3300 fps with 100 NP bullets, and nearly 3600fps with 75 Sierra HPs, using a stiff charge of H-4350, plenty good enough for actual hunting, and it handles well. I wish it had a 24" barrel, to move the noise a little further from my ears, but I can live with it, as is. It shoots very well, too.

My Browning A-Bolt has a 22 inch barrel. I still get over 3300 fps with 100 gr bullet. Never thought about the barrel length much until I saw this thread.

My Rem 700 was recrowned to just under 22" and with Win Supreme 115 grain Balistic Tips it gives 2930 fps avg. Use it all the time as they all land in 1/2" group.
