My Krico mauser 222 Rem. has a 1-16 twist rate and the rifle apparently prefers the lighter bullets. Anyone have any suggested loads for the 40-45 grain or even if the 50 grain would be accurate. Thanks elmer.

A Rem. 700 in .222 Rem. that I had years ago shot well with the Hornady 45 gr. Hornet bullet (.224") with 27.0 gr. of BL-C(2), Rem. 7-1/2 primer, and Rem. brass. This load is about maximum, so please work up to it. I did not have a chorongraph at the time, but according to the Hornady manual should give you about 3,400 fps. It was a great varmint load. That rifle had a 1-14 twist, but shot well with 63 gr. Sierra semi-spitzers. Your rifle with the 1-16 twist might handle 50 gr. bullets. The only way to know is to try them. My .222 liked the 50 gr. Sierra semi-spitzer with 25.0/BL-C(2), Rem. 7-1/2 primer, and Rem. or Win. brass. The semi-spitzer seemed more explosive on varmints than some of the longer, more pointed bullets I tried.
