I just picked up one of these in a Featherweight Mdl. 70. I would be interested to learn of others experiences with this cartridge. Many Thanks HBH

There's good info at WSSMzone.com. I like mine, shoots like a house-afire, but it's a custom barrel, too. Reloading the thick brass involves some use of the head, but works fine. HTH, Dutch. Life's too short to hunt with an ugly dog.

Try www.wssmzone.com I have shot exactly 1 whitetail doe with the 223 WSSM and 64 grain Winchester/Olin PowerPoint factory load. About 200+/- yards, squeezed the trigger, there is so little recoil that I could see the spray of blood/body fluids exit along with the bullet. The deer ran about 30' and fell over dead. Through/through the pleural cavity penetration, leaving a couple quarts of lung pudding and blood ahead of the diaphram. Too small a sample size to predict the universe, but not a bad start! Thank you both for the links! I just wanted to try something small for a change of pace, and have found little info. Many Thanks HBH

Got the same effect 4 for 4 with the 243 WSSM on fallow deer here in OZ (the 5th one was headshot, with the usual effect), with the 100gr Power Point factory load. My Featherweight seems to like this load, with groups running around the MOA mark. The 223 WSSM is not legal for deer here in OZ, but a friend who has a Featherweight in 223 WSSM has used it on pigs and 'roos with effects similar to those you described, and similar accuracy. All in all, with careful shot placement, the round seems to work as advertised. Cheers, Dave. Aut Inveniam Viam aut Faciam.

Mine pushes a 40gr NBT @ 4400 fps, with .25 MOA. I couldn't ask for better out of a 5 lb rifle. I had it built light foe a calling rifle. DR B
