my ten day Calfornia waiting period ends 11/27/08. This hopefully will be my host action to all my new play thing barrels many of which I intend to devote to what ever the mode moves me.Some more wildcats for sure.A single shot follower or two is in the offing. Did you take advantage of Turner's sale? $259 is hard to pass up. Aut vincere aut mori

Are these long enough for the full length H&H or RUM case?

Actually not. There is a new local gun shop that shows promise and I wanted to become aquainted with them. It cost me $35.00 more but that was somewhat below what others quoted. In fact two places would not go down below suggested retail. I also have an aversion dealing with Turners. When it was Andrews they had some knowledgable Personnel. roger Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! I don't particularly like Turners either, but, I had a gift certificate and wanted a fast (1/9)twist .223. Certainly worth the gamble at that price. Aut vincere aut mori

Roger: I was over looking at both a 22.250 and a 25.06 in the Stevens 200 actions today.... NO ten day wait here! Will be looking forward to some of your experiences being posted..... I have already ordered a couple of benchrest followers.... I'd actually like to use the Stevens for some work with cartridges normally used with Contender s but I don't care for the single shot pistol... too much a rifle guy.... These look like just the ticket for those of us that like to play with different calibers.... those of us with "inquiring minds'.... cheers seafire

You guys have started down a VERY slippery slope with those Savage/Stevens guns. You will now be forced to sign on to the Savageshooters forum to slake your thirst for all things Savage. And look out, Midway has some Ackley improved barrels on sale in the varmint calibers, I believe. Savage parts has nearly every caliber in sporter and varmint calibers. The words "Sharpshooter Supply", Pac-Nor, Rifle Basix are now tossed about carelessly. Your speed dial buttons will be reprogrammed to those suppliers that cater to the Savage whim. Boy, do I feel for you guys. But you won't be alone, trust me......I'm there already! **STAY ALERT! The world is running out of lerts; we can't afford to lose anymore!**

I've played with the 25-06 IMP a good many years and gave it away a few years back. Don't think I'll be back tracking in that direction. The shorter action should be just fine for what I might do and I screwed up my existing 22-250 so I thought I'd have a rebirth with the Stevens. It amazes me Savage doesn't chamber the 250-3000. That will probably be my next barrel. roger Go out and spend the money , John. read my signature. Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. seafire and others, I picked up one of the Stevens 200's in 25-06 this fall while in a shop I supply with UNCLE BUD'S bags, pulled out a little cash and told Paul who works there, "I'll take this one out the door and give it a thorough test for this much." He thought about it and then took me up on it!! Have I been surprised and pleased!! After getting the trigger down to 54 SAFE oz(a little more than my varminters and BR's!!) and breaking the barrel in, it's hard to get it not to shoot a load in the .6-.7's!! Best it's dome is with 50 grains of VARGET and a 75 grain VMAX at 3500+ from a 22" barrel into .143!!! I'm thinking of dinking around with some extra barrels and maybe another couple of the actions!!! GHD Groundhog Devastation(GHD)

GHD, Now pick up about 16Lbs of accurate data 86 powder. From the testing I just did it is super accurate and looks very much like a 4831 maybe even a scoch slower. In th 22-250, 243, 257 Roberts, 6.5x55 ,270 and 30-06 it was just great and at only $59.75/8 lbs.at Powder Valley. Your 25 Neidner will love it. roger Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Roger, May have to try that powder!! Never messed with it before but it sounds promising!!! Old IMR 4350 and H4831sc and the darn VARGET(that one is a mystery!!....how one powder could be so good in such a variation of chamberings!!!) are pretty darn good in GOD'S GIFT TO RIFLEDOM...25-06, but always open to new stuff!! Thanks! Charlie (GHD) Groundhog Devastation(GHD)
