Anyone shooting a .220 Swift using 75-90 g bullets for longer range shooting-hunting out to 500-600 yds? What is the velocity?
Thanks!

I know a few guys who tried to bump up a Swift with fast twist barrels (1-7,1-8) to be able to shoot the heavies out that far, but they gave up trying. They had to reduce the Swift to 223 Rem velocities (2500fps approx) to get acceptable accuracy. Most Swifts have 1:14 barrels and shoot 55 gn pills @ 400 yds tops.

No experience with the Swift, but quite a bit with the 22-250 and with the 8 twist barrel, 69-80gr Sierra MK's, long range performance is impressive. Could reach around 3200fps w/ the 80's but accuracy declined and when dropped to just over 3000fps, very accurate and used for 1000yd matches. See no reason why the Swift would not work well with the faster twist barrel for the heavier bullets. Best powder I found to be IMR 4064.

not a swift, but in a 22/250AI (which is so close you might as well call it a swift) i've been using 40 gr of imr 4831 and a 80 gr sierra. this is in a browning hiwall rebarreled with a 8" twist hart barrel. works great
