I have just seen my first CZ rifle M527...Looks good but the retail price is much less than Remington M700 or Winchester M70. Can anyone speak to CZ rifle's value as compared to M700 or M70 for field use? [Smile]

Try it, you'll like it! Easily adjustable set trigger and great balance.
Mine is a 223 American and it is really nice. Shoots great, too. For the caliber, I'd take it over the Winchester or Remington every time.

Vman -

Mine is a 550 American in 9.3x62 caliber, and, aside from a problem with the scope rings (caused by me being stupid), the quality is easily the equal of any of those mentioned. Probably the best bargain on the market right now.

My complaint with the 527 would center around the magazine sticking out the bottom. I haven't handled one, but, from the pictures I've seen, it seems to stick out pretty good.

Go to http://pdmall.com/CZC/rifles~3.htm and look around. Pretty good prices.

I love cz's and Brno's, I now have 3 and 4th on the way (big bore built on a 602). They all shoot great. I reckon there great value. Just wish they would bring out some stainless synhetic variants.

I just got a CZ 527 American. The fit & finish is excellent. The magazine well fits precisely into a machined groove on the bottom of the receiver, and they install a steel sleeve in the hole for the rear action screw. The barrel came fully floated, and there were a couple of dabs of bedding compound around the recoil lug. The set trigger is excellent, and the owner's manual comes with complete instructions and pictures for adjusting pull, creep, and travel of your trigger. The scope mounts are very sturdy, and took only a couple minutes to lap in.
Basically, I only had to adjust the trigger and lay more glass bedding in around the recoil lug!
Being the proud owner of a Ruger 77/22VHZ and 2 Remington 700's, I'd consider this CZ to be the cream of the crop!
Regards, George [Big Grin]

I'm more of a Savage 340 & 110 and Rem. 788 kinda guy, it has to do with $. I have managed to get a couple Brownings and a Tikka too. Havent shot a CZ YET. But they have a fondle factor of 10. That 527 seems to be a favorite of the guys who build the 17 Mach IVs. Must be a goodun. Best,,,

I have handled the CZ 527 various times. It points nicely. Finish and fit (worksmanship) are mediocre by German standards and excellent by US standards.

The gun gives good value for money, IMHO. It is definitely better than the Zastava Mini-Mauser (L 99) action. It is however decidely inferior in finish and quality to the excellent short Sabatti action (Rover 600). The Sabatti may cost a bit more than the CZ, but not much. And it is a much more "classic" gun in style and feeling.

I forgot to add my cz 527 shoots under an inch with the 45 gr sierra .224 in front of 11 gr of win 296 rem case and rem 7 1/2 primer seated to 1.71". The scope is a leupold Vari X11 3-9x50. I reckon it shoots damn good for such a light outfit. Any fox out to 200 yards on a calm night is buggered.

You will not go wrong with a cz.

I have several 527's and love them. A friend modified the mag to take long cartridge length after he measured the freebore in his 22 Hornet. I won't tell tyou the 296 load but it is over 13gr and he chronographed 2900+ with 45gr Sierras. No excessive case expansion and no pressure signs. .3" 3 shot group. He was a serious reloader not a cowboy so it can be done. I have 40 rounds left after he died but I haven't tried them in my 527. Mine likes 11.3 gr 296 with nosler 40grainers.

Carcano (or anyone else who may know), do you know of any US importers that may carry the Sabatti rifles? I've seen them online before, but could find no US dealers that handle them. Thanks.

I second that "please do." I sent an e-mail 6 months ago but got no response. I just sent another one today, but if you could get the info that would be great. Thanks.

I have a CZ 527 in 22 Hornet. A big problem that I've found is that the clip is a way too short for a rifle with way too much freebore.
Has anybody figured a way to modify this little clip? Maybe use parts from a 223 ?
This is my first post.
I guess I haven't pissed anybody off yet.

Forrest

Add me to list of those interested in learning more about the Sabatti. That Rover 600 in .223 looks mighty interesting.
