22 ARC?
Any interest in the 22 ARC on the Forum? On some Forums it seems like the best thing since sliced bread.

I bought one . Put a suppressor and a thermal on it . Shot a bunch of varmints with it. I have yet to shoot a hog with it. That will change soon.

I like it.

I dislike the 223 round and I love the 6mm ARC so the 22 ARC should be great choice. It's probably one of the best choice for a 22 caliber cartridge in an autoloader.

In any other rifle, I would go with a fast twist 22.250.

Is that the same as a 220 Russian? Or, 22PPC? Or, 22 Grendel. ...seems like there are several nearly identical versions of that.

I suppose it comes down to whatever components you can get these days.

I built some 22 Grendel rifles in the past and in an AR or a small Howa Mini action rifle it’s a great rifle for the platform. I went w/ slower twist 1-9 to 1-11 for general varminting and increased velocity with the 50-55gr bullets. Even loaded 50gr TTSX in the Howa mini and shot a deer with it. Worked well at 150ish through the woods at last light. Thinking I had that running 35-3600? Have to check but it was pretty speedy. Great round for specific platforms, a PITA in others. On a short action Remington you have a special bolt face and a shorter cartridge that can be tricky to get a repeater to work. In the short action I prefer the 22 Creedmoor

Shoot straight, shoot often.

It’s a 22 PPC …. 22 Grendel etc nothing revolutionary except factory ammo with high BC bullets.

Great little cartridge. I have two currently: a Howa Mini and a varmint weight pre-fit barrel on a Zermatt Arms action. I'm taking the heavier gun on a prairie dog shoot later this summer.

Since it incorporates the cartridge design and throat lessons learned by the development of the 6.5 Creedmoor, you'll be hard pressed to find one that won't shoot up to par.

Hornady publishes load date for bolt-actions that allows for significant velocity gains over the factory ammo, which is loaded to gas gun pressures.

Woodhits, what do you think of the Howa mini? Are you loading for it or shooting factory ammo? I just looked at the LSI catalog and they show the 22 ARC with a 7 twist barrel, options for length and stock. They don't say anything about the magazines though.

Years ago MDT was going to make nice magazines and a chassis/bottom metal for the Howa Mini. This would've been very nice, particularly with something like the 22 ARC with long bullets, but I don't think they ever followed up on it. So I wonder if the current magazines are any better than the original ones.

I just finished an AR15 in 22 ARC, I haven't been able to make it to the range yet so no report there. It functions great and it seems like I have the adjustable gas block dialed in.
