Loading 223 in Savage 10FP for Accuracy and field. Have Hogdon 322 on hand. Would like to stay with 2 powders this year.
Am looking for another powder to load 69 & 75 grn bullets.
While on Accurate site I noticed that across a wide variety of bullet weights 2015 offered higher Velocity and lower pressure than their other powders.
Does anyone have comments on how this powder performs for accuracy?

The data was wrong on 2015. I really got some hot loads in my .358 Wins and those rifles are precious to me.

In fact I just spotted the can yesterday. I thought I had thrown it out. I am heading back to the basement to put Water's book on the floor again and bring up the 2015 to flush it down the toilet.

I hope this helps.

I have found AA2015 to be an exceptionally good powder for all my medium capacity cases. It was specifically formulated for the PPC cartridges and in both the 22 and 6mm it gives super performance. In load development for my 22 PPC I found AA 2015 to give excellent velocities and velocity standard deviations always less than 10 f/s. The 22 PPC is a Bullberry Custom rifle on an XP action with a Douglas AG barrel and Shillen trigger that routinely shoots 100 yd 5-shot groups less than .250" with Hornady SPSX 50 gr bullets. The best group with that rifle was .239". I also have a 223 Bullberry 14" Contender barrel that shoots .250" groups with Sierra #1200 40 gr bullets. My Remington stock factory Model 700 223 with 26" barrel shoots .375" groups with Nosler 40 gr bullets. A friend has a 6mm PPC and he has had the same type experience with AA 2015 in it. Being an avid Prairie Dog shooter, I use about 15 pounds of it a year and have had super performance with it in all my "Dog" guns.

The 2015 is a good powder! 2230 is seems to be a better powder for the .222 & .223 with both the 52-53 grain and the 69 grain. Good Luck

Wish I only had two powders. I am in the process of burning off all my 133, varget 4064, 335 in my kids 223. All I will have in the end is 322, Xterminator and Tac. Stable, easy to work up loads with (work in a wide range of pressures), and clean --- miraculously clean.

If you can get someone to run Quickload for you, that Tac will really surprise you with it's velocity and that bullet weight. Oh, and at $15/lb locally, I can afford to shoot it, too. HTH, Dutch.

My lb of 2105 came in a 2lb can with various Chzeck labels crudely torn off and stuck over with new ones. The powder kernels were 2 different colours and on firing unburnt kernels were left in the barrel - this for the powder of choice in 222rem according to Nosler and Hornady for 40gr bullets.

So not for me.

I don't have experience with the heavier bullets, but with the 50, 52, and 55 grain bullets, 2015 provides an exceptional cobination of accuracy and velocity in the .223. I've probably tested ten different poweders in the .223 this year, and 2015 was the best in my setup. My most accurate load occurs anywhere from 25.0 to 26.5 grains of 2015 (depending on lot)and gives me 3,500 fps with a 52 grain bullet and 26" barrel. My only complaint is the seemingly large variation from lot to lot, so stock up.

I used 2015 in my .223 savage 112fv with 69gr Sierra Matchkings, very, very accurate. I don't have the exact load recipe as I lost my notes in a move a few years ago, but look around and you can find suggested loads.

2015 is the single most accurate powder tested to date in my 223's, especially with lighter (53 grain and under) bullets. One 223 VLS, accurized by Arnold Arms before their demise, averages in the 0.300's for five shots @ 100 yds with any 52/53 grain match bullet and F205M primers in Federal Gold Medal Match brass, using 24 - 24.5 AA2015.

Pressures seem to run up a bit quickly when using heavier bullets, although the accuracy is still good.

Jim, No doubt AA2015 BR and H322 are both good powders. I've loaded many rounds of each for my Contender's 223 and have been pleased w/ both. I've also used both in 85 gr. loads for my Contender barrels in 6.5 JDJ and 35 Rem 200 gr bullets. Admittedly, I've not loaded any 2015 in 5-6 years, but in my experience, the performance of the two was nearly identical in accuracy, velocity, grains/load, etc. They also both meter quite well. Just to keep things simple, I didn't replace my 2015 after I burned it up, electing to instead keep H322 as I had a full can of it. In most powder burning charts the two are very close too each other. The loads perform quite similarly in most loading manuals that use both powders in same bullet/cartridge combination. Not taking anything away from 2015, but if you already have 322 and want to limit yourself to only 2 powders, I'd think about a powder w/ a different burning rate than 322/2015. In the Hornady Data Manual 5th Ed, it says this about 223 NATO loads (68-75 gr bullets in 1-9" twist barrels): "Our best results were obtained w/ VIHT N-140. N-135 and AA2495 gave excellent results but did not match VIHT N-140." In the Hodgdon #26 Manual, the best velocities w/ 70 gr bullets was obtained w/RL 15 (3000 fps), RL 12 (2900 fps), H335 (2800 fps), and H280, BL-C(2), and IMR 4320 (all around 2700 fps). Gary T.
