Deer maimers? Not sure what to think of that term!

This on isn't anything special to look at, but i had a VZ24 action laying around for about 7 years and finally stuck a cheap barrel and stock on it. It feels good and shoots pretty well too. 6.5 is probably my favorite caliber to shoot all around.

120gr TTSX group measured about .800 or so.

You'd just need to read a little of this thread to understand.

How about if I throw a curve ball question

I have been shooting a swedes since day one and have never felt I need anything more in Europe.

I have bigger calibers just for a ego trip

Has anybody actually Took the swedes for plains games in Africa and happy about the result ?

I think this will the ultimate test for a cartridge

Dirt
Heat
Excessive pressure
Mirage
Feeding issues
Excitement

And does it perform ?

Please post if you have actually done it and not what younthink how the swedes will perform

Don't own a 6.5x55 but use a 260 Rem at the ranch all the time and one other hunter at the ranch has a 260 Rem. It would take a bobtail truck to haul the dead deer so far. Both shoot the 140 grn. Rem CorLokt ammo.

You can borrow money but you can not borrow time. Go hunting with your family.

I figured it was a bit tongue-in-cheeck.

Mine is a Remington Classic made only in 1994. It wears a Leupold 3-9 VX2. Prior to that I had a M96 Swedish Mauser. I've shot 6.5X55 for almost 50 years. Lots of deer, Jackrabbits, prairie dogs and coyotes have fallen to them.

I have a nice 6.5x55 that I would part with .It's heavy though and would make a nice silhouette gun if someone in the USA was interested.

Hey Harry!
Didn`t ya know you weren`t supposed to use Remmy Core-loks on animals?? Lots of the "experts" say you need a better bullet! LOL. funny thing though~~~ used them [100 gr .25 Cal bulkers from Midway]in my 25 Souper on a few Elk and they worked fine. Must have got a bad batch. HeeHee

I've got one in the 700 Classic as well. It's topped with a 3x9 Burris and it really likes the Seller Belliot 131 gr factory ammo. It is a really good deer and pronghorn rifle and has done the job on more than a few cow elk too.

I got this Swede at a gun show a couple years ago. Did some tradin' and it came home with me. It's on a Mauser 98 action, not a 96, which I liked and was a custom build at one time. I figured the double set triggers were worth what he was asking for the rifle.

I may add a period correct aperture sight but no scope. It is lots of fun at the range but I have not hunted with it yet. I would actually need to get drawn for something for that to happen.

The stock was in bad shape so I stripped it and re-finished it. It still needs a metal buttplate - cheap plastic one on it now. The stock was smooth - the carvings I did myself to look like an old European rifle - copied the old styles.

Definitly one of my favorites.

Mike,

I'm sure your local gun shop could order you one. It's just a CZ 550 Full Stock and it runs about $750-$800. I have a matching one in 9.3x62. They are great rifles.

There is one for sale in the classified section but I know the gun laws in CA are strict.
