"Its a 223 I had made by Martini and Hagn. Its all scaled down to look like a miniture English big-bore ala H&H or Rigby. In fact the front sling stud is from an original Rigby 275."

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,

Well, we won't hold that against it! I'm still puzzled by the caliber selection but never question a man's choices...when he obviously has good taste! Smiler

Hey Phill and Allen,
It looks like and is stocked like my 6x45 on a Sako L-461 action with a hand made pre 64 M-70 safety..Believe it or not I built this rifle some 15 years ago and I still have it, now that is no less than a mircle for an old gun whore like myself...

This one started out as a mini, mauser because I'm lefthanded. Lots of work and after market trigger , gentry 3 position safety and shroud, Gunmakers bottom metal, custom H&H style front sight and express rear sight and original 275 rigby barrel band sling stud. Wood is turkish walnut that I horse traded hagn out of and is actually darker than it looks on the pic.everything is scaled down even the size of the mullard borders on the 24 lpi checkering. Shoots 1.5 in. groups at 100yds with open sights with 60 gr. noslers. Thats about as good as I can see so with a good shooter it should do better. Haven't scoped it and probably won't. Ray I'm contemplating a 6x45 on a cz lefthand 527 action. The magazine is butt ugly so am trying to figure a regular hinged floorplate. Maybe cobble together the original bottom metal from the mini onto it.

gunmaker you should recognize the bottom metal. I had the cz bolt handle replaced with a little oberndorf type. It weighs 5lb. 10oz and is almost sensual to handle.

For those who might not know Ol' Sir Phull, as the folks call him near our hunting camp in Namibia, he is always dragging high end classic rifles and shotguns over to Africa .... Eeker Not all that many folks go over to Africa with an iron sighted 318 even older than their hunting partner ... but that is the stuff he often uses ... Being left handed myself ... maybe some evening I'll get him drunk on the port that he enjoys along with some good dark chocolate .... around the campfire around 9:00 p.m. ... under the Southern Cross and bazillions of stars ... and try to swap him my usual sand grouse shot gun .. a Benelli Nova .. straight across .. Confused Big Grin

Beautiful and lefty to boot!

Here's a link to a guy that has modified the CZ 527 magazines to flush fit.

Looks interesting.

http://public.fotki.com/Rbertalotto/bang!/cz-527_magazine/

And here's the process he used to do it.

http://public.fotki.com/Rbertalotto/bang!/cz-mag-step-by-step/

I've already had a lefty CZ 527 converted to 6.8 SPC and have another one in the works being barreled and chambered to 20 Vartarg.

Great little platform for these kind of mods.

Thanks Chopperguy,
Does this fellow do this work for others for a nominal fee? I have seen on AR sometime in the past where a mod was done where there was a hinged floorplate hiding the detach magazine but it could still be used as such. That's the slickest but probably considerably more expensive. I still have the original bottom metal from the minimauser and I''m going to drag it out and see if it can be made to work over the detachable magazine.
Richard there ain't enough port in Portugal ply me into a separation with that little jewel.

Phill, Since even you will admit that you are a "gun whore" second only to my good friend Ray, I will look on with interest to see if this proves true.

Sorry, I don't know anything about him. Just saw what he did when I was looking/ searching for some 221 Fireball CZ 527 mags for my Vartarg project.

I think you can contact him through those sites. May be wotth attempting to contact him and see it he does it for others.

Also, there's a WHOLE BUNCH of Port here in Pequot Lakes between a bunch of us so maybe I have a chance????

Allen, Tis true I have no pride and known to have a frivilous nature when it comes to firearms. Plus Scruffy is a sly and shifty fellow who warrants close tabs when the port is passed aruond. It is rumored that he once back shot a rosy -faced love bird in the preflight position at a water hole.

Here's a link to the guy that does the conversion on the 527 magazine and bottom metal.

Pretty reasonable cost.

http://www.rvbprecision.com/articles/11/cz-527-rifle-magazine-conversion

I did find a couple references to his work via a Google search. All comments were positive.

Good luck.

Thanks Chopperguy, that is very economical and I will probably go there as soon as I get a lefthand 527. I actually like that action better than the mini which ofcoarse is not a true mauser but a push feed. I had at one time the predeccessor of the 527 which was a 22 hornet in a Bruno 465 but they never made them in lefthand. The cz and bruno are more of a true mauser with CRF and neat little square bridges. The hornet was deadly accurate and I should have never traded it off.
