I would love to know the answer to this one as well. I am thinking of trading/selling my 10/22T with a Green Mountain barrel for one. Maybe Roger can help.

Roll EyesI have about 220 loads for the .223 that I have tested in the last 4 years. These have been shot through 3 different rifles. The only load shot through the stevens tube with other than surplus powder was a 70 gr. Berger pushed by 25.5gr of Accurate 2520 for a 3 shot group of 2" at 300 yds.

By far the largest % of these loads were with surplus powders. However, with the surplus powders the Stevens .223 I have is MOSTLY MOA. thumb
If you like, PM me your E-Mail address and I'll send you all the data I have on the .223. thumbroger beer

Almost everyone gets these to shoot well, it is one of the best deals in rifles out there.

Mine shot very well in .223 with 50gr NBT's and 3031. I have since rechamberred it to 22-204(222 Rem Mag Improved) and am pushing 40gr NBT's to 3900fps over H-335, even with the 1-9 twist I'm getting 5 shot groups under 2" at 300yds and is a great coyote combo DRT and little fur damage. This is the factory stock with factory bedding. I did adjust the trigger to remove the creep but left it pretty heavy as I do most of my coyote hunting with gloves on.

Oddly enough, the old bulk winchester white box ammo that none of us have seen for years, would shoot 3/8's in my Ruger and about an inch in my Stevens. I found some 250 rd boxes of Federal ammo and they shot about an inch in my Ruger. Out of frustration I tried them in my Stevens and they shoot 5/8's.

My Stevens will shoot all but the Hornady SX's well.

60 grain Hdy hollow points are also very accurate, with good expansion.

My Stevens 223 likes 40 gr Nosler BTs over Varget, and 55 gr V-max over W748.
