has anyone used the 6 x 47 lapua for anything other than targets? Any experience? I am thinking about building one for varmints predators etc. It looks like a good happy medium between a 6mm rem and a 6 br. DW

I have shot a lot of deer, hogs, Javalina and African plainsgame with my 6x45 and thats close enough for a comparison...I use the GS Customs 75 gr. HV..I used the Barnes X 75 gr. for years but they discontinued it...I wish I could find some of those Barnes X 75 gr. bullets....

Like Ray....I have a 6X45 (very close) and it works well on whitetail deer to 150 yards!....maybe more!

I use a 70 grain SX (believe it or not) and it's quite the little round!

Use a 55 grain BT and it's a fine varminter.

For duikers, Dik Dik, Steinbok, and even springbok sized animals one could do far worse than the 6X45! Mine is housed in a mini-mauser and is so light I sometimes want to twirl it like a .45 SAA!

sweet round for a light rifle and it nicely kills smaller targets under 150 pounds!

Folks, the 6x47 Lapua is a completely different animal to the 6x47 - which is close to the 6x45. The 6x47 Lapua is a necked down 6.5x47 Lapua having a case capacity of 48gr water against 32gr water for the 6x47.

here is some load for the 6x47 Laupa I got from another site
Here are a few selected 6X47 Lapua loads from some preliminary testing. Serious accuracy testing will have to wait for better range conditions. Rifle: Savage Target Action, 26" SS PacNor barrel, Super Match grade, 1/10 twist, SSS Benchrest Style Stock, Leupy 4.5X14 Scope.
75 VMax-41.0 N550-F205M 3480fps
75 VMax-37.0 H4895-F205M 3429fps
87 VMax-41.0 W760-F205M 3262fps
70 Sierra MK-41.5 N550-F205M 3583fps
70 Sierra MK-37.5 IMR4895-GM205M 3455fps
71 Berger-37.5 IMR4895-GM205M 3463fps
95 Sierra MK-40.0 W760-F205M 3137fps
Chronograph was a PACT PRO with screens 12' from muzzle.
Temps were 50-60F.

I'm shooting a 6x22-250 and it has prety close to the same case capacity as the Laupa I had mine done with a 1/14 twist barrel more as a varmit rifle. Just looking at the data with a 95gr bullet that is in the range of a 243. Well good luck

My last 6BR, 26" slung 70gr@3400+, 105's 2880, and 95BT @3000+ so I don't know how much realistic stretch in range one might get,,,,,unless pushing 115s in comp. I killed my longest deer kill at 400 yds with a 105/6BR.....So....

Figure brass at $100 per 100, plus case forming time, and custom dies/cost.....I'd just buy a factory 243 if you think you need more than a 6BR, but the BR is great for accuracy, long bbl life vs hotter rounds, soooooooo

I like the 6.5x47 L but the new Creedmore and even 260 has brass at 30-50% of the cost....Lapua has just outpriced themselves for many shooters budgets IMHO.
