It can be. Many will tell you that you have to buy a new barrel to get top-notch accuracy, and most who say this are selling barrels or rebarreling jobs!! You can get excellent results from rebored barrels, depending on who does the work. However, you generally will have to wait longer to get your gun back than if you just rebarrel it. I have had several rifles rebored by good 'smiths, and had to wait at least 1 year for the rebored gun. There may be some who have faster turn-around, but I don't know who they are!! Good luck!!

Unless it's some sort of historic or sentimental type barrel that can't be "replaced", I'd just get a new barrel.

Conmpared to a new barrel you don't have to have it contoured, fitted or blued and it don't mess up your bedding. It used to cost about half as much. The best in the business was Dick Nickle but he up and died, so now I don't know who to tout.
