I just picked up a 20VT in a custom contender barrel and looking for some good loads using 40 grain bullets. I have H4198 & RL7 powders.

I never got past the 35gn Berger and 19.2 gn ADI2207/H4198 gives me 3700fps from 21in barrel and exceptional accuracy. Could'nt match it with the 40 gn bullets I tried.

18.5gn AR2207/H4198 gets me 3455 behind a Berger 40 & 1" spread at 200M when I am on my game.

Same load behind 40 Nosler , not so tight.

24" Kreiger Barrel...........10" twist.

usual load caveats apply.

I use 32 grain plastic tip bullets for PDs and 35 bergers for coyotes.
H 4198 works great in mine.

AA 1680 has been magic for me in the Fireball-sized cases. My load for my .20 Vartarg is 19.75 grains of AA2200 under a 32 grain Nosler B.Tip. Runs about 3700 fps and makes tiny little groups.
