Try 70 gr. Sierra MKHP with 43.0 gr.H-414 over CCI-BR-2 primers for 3225 fps and 1/2 MOA groups. Also I like the
100 gr. Hornady PSP's with 47.0 gr. H-1000 over Win LR primers and get 3/4" groups at 3,050 fps. These were shot
through an older Browning Safari 22" barrel with a 1 in 10
twist. I can get much higher velocity out of the 70 gr MK,
but groups open up too much and I like the smooth recoil.
With your new 40X you will probably get better performance.

Try the 58 grain V-max with IMR4064, near max. Devestating on ground squirrels as far as you can see them.

Fjold,

I have to compliment that little picture there.
Never read the post, but sure loved the picture.

Just like all the guys who use to buy Playboy just to read the "interesting" articles.

I have a .243 in a Sako Forester. I use winchester brass, federal 210M primers and H4895 behind a 55gr Nosler BT. Being pretty anal about case length, powder charge and seating the bullet pretty far out (its not that long)etc. I'm getting .3-.6 inch groups. My load is 0.5 grains above max from noslers manual in that powder. As always, work up to that, do not start at that.

The 55 grain Nosler BT actually shoots a little tighter at 100 yards than their excellent 70 grain BT in my HB Browning Safari. I use IMR 4895 (although several similar powders will do as well) with the 55 and IMR 4320 with the 70. At extended yardage, the 70 grain outperforms the lighter slug due to wind drift and retained energy, so it's my choice for really long range work.
