What powder do you use for the loads in your 257?

I use RL25 in most of my loads for my 257 WBY.The 87gr bullet I use RL22. I don't load the 75gr bullet.

257 AI, favorite current powder/bullet is the
115 Trophy Bonded and IMR 4831.
2nd best, and still terrific is R22 and Nosler 110 Accubond.

My 25,06 seems to like Rl 19 and IMR 4350. I think I would get more velocity with slower powders like RL-22 and H-1000 , but my custom 25,06 just won't group with those powders.
I have 2 .257 Roberts, and both work well with IMR 4350 IMR-4064 And H-414.
My custom springfield Roberts has a 24 inch douglas barrel and it shoots great with just about any thing you want to feed it !
Seems to me if you want a great round for any of the larger .257 rounds , get yourself a box of 115 grain barnes tripple shocks.
Should do a great job on most anything.
in My little ruger RL roberts , want to work up a load with the nosler 110 grain acubond.
great deer cartridge.

I own allot of 25 cal guns, but only shoot one 257Roberts Ackley Improved.

I use bulk IMR4895 with a burn rate more like H322.

72 and 75 gr bullets up to 3900 fps and .4 moa, but mostly get shot at 3600 fps and average .8 moa

100 gr bullets 3275 fps down to .8 moa, but average 1 moa

110 and 117 gr bullets average 1.2 moa

4831 in a 250Sav ?
I would think that would make the bullet slow and the report loud.

Hi Blair,
Can one still get h870 in Australia? I have a 7mm STW & one day was thinking of rebarreling to 257 STW. Can you post more details on your 257 rifle?

Good ol' IMR 4350 and 100 the grain Sierra make good deer medicine in the Roberts. Hornady's 117 grain BTSP kicks things up another notch if one is willing.
