I am looking for any and all info on the Rem700 VTR chambered in 22-250. I have heard bad things about the stock and was wondering if anyone had any input on this issue or any others with this gun.
Thanks in advance!

Well, I went ahead and bought one anyway. I decided to go with the .223 based on a price that I could not pass up here at a local gun shop. Probably a good idea anyways considering I am already set-up for the .223 in the ammo/reloading department.

I've not had a chance to handle one if it is the one with the Triangular Barrel. How does it shoot? Do you like the new trigger as is, or does it still need Tuning?

I had the 22-250 for about a week before it went down the road...I am not a big gun tinker person...I thought the trigger was terrible and the stock a close second...I am done with Remingtons...I like a gun to shoot out of the box, I guess I am spoiled with all my Sakos and Coopers. I really wanted to make the VTR work for me because I thought it was unique...I hated it.

I considered the VTR to go with my SPS Varmint in .223, but decided to save the $80 or so, and go with a Weatherby Vanguard Varmint Special with the 22" No. 3 Contour barrel. I am glad I did. The Weatherby (Howa) is a solid shooter. I have less than 60 rounds through it, but it easily keeps 5 shots at 100 yards inside an inch, and I am sure will do better once I replace the trigger with a Timney. (My SPS Varmint already has a Timney) I tried to have a gunsmith adjust the new X-Mark Pro trigger in the Remington and he said it was hopeless. The worst piece of junk he had seen in a rifle. The Weatherby trigger is a little better than the trigger in my Howa 1500, but I am still planning on replacing it down the road. As is, though, the new Weatherby will certainly shoot minute of ground squirrel out to 200 yards or so. Also, I am not a big fan of muzzle brakes.
Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

My friend bought a VTR in.22-250. Yes he had to adjust the trigger but it is acceptable for a bargain level rifle. Also if you go on remingtons website you can get a 50$ mail in rebate on them. I dont know if its still going on but my buddy got it. It shoots 50gn Noslers and the 39gn Varmint grenades about .5 to .75. Also the muzzle brake is not as bad as I thought it would be meaning blast wise. I would want a longer barrel myself for a 22-250 but oh well. Over all I dont think they are a bad buy for the price.

not everyone can afford a cooper. most remingtons with a trigger job and a bedding will shoot bloody well anyway.
but im a contradictory person. everyone says how great the winchester mod70 is and how great 270s are. well ill never own a 270 or a mod70
