Greetings to all! I posted this in the "Classifieds" headings but thought I would go ahead and add it here also. Currently in the market for a CZ550 in 7x57 Mauser - would like to have either the "American" or the CZ550 FS (Full stocked version)
If you have one you wish to sell or know of availability please advise me.
Best Regards,

Trapper: I own a CZ 550 American in 7x57mm and my brother owns one in the full stock. Both were bought from the CZ Connection via the internet in Atlanta, Ga. Phil is the fellow who owns the outfit. He has to order the 7x57mm from CZ USA, but it is a quick turnaround. Phil charged me $429 plus $18 shipping and handling for my CZ 550 American and he charged my brother $529 plus $18 shipping and handling for Duffy's CZ 550 Full Stock in 7x57mm. Keep in mind the CZ 550 in American or Full Stock have a 1x8.66 twist barrel, which does an exceptional job in the accuracy department with the 160 grain bullets on up. With mine in the American version, using H414 Powder and the Hornady SST bullet (you have to seat the bullet way, way out but it likes to be .01 inch off the lands)that 162 grain bullet will put three bullets into a sub half minute of angle group traveling 2,815 fps.Go to the search mode on your computer and type in CZ Connection. You'll get a lot of CZ stuff, but Phil's CZ Connection is right at the top of the list, or thereabouts. He has a 1-800 number and is very, very reliable. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Tom Purdom [Big Grin]

Many, many thanks for the info! As I am in Atlanta it should be an easy matter to come up with the CZ now that I know where to look. BTW, what kind of glass are you using on yours?
BEst regards,

Trapper: I used Brownells Accuglass for a while, but switched to Pro-Bed 2000 from Score High Gunsmithing, 928-A Cochiti SE, Albuquerque, NM 87123, in brown. The stuff is very, very easy to work with and it gives you more than an hour's work-time. It is a 1/1 mix and the very best I have used in my limited experience. I might also tell you that under that elephant snot finish CZ uses on its rifles could be a very, very pretty chunk of Turkish Walnut. The factory finish hides the grain. I used GB Lindspeed Oil and have one very beautiful rifle. I also had a qualified gunsmith (I'm not one but rather a newspaper reporter who likes to tinker with rifles) jewell the bolt in a small herringbone pattern and polish the bolt handle to a bright nickel finish. My brother did the same to his full stock and it too, turned out to be a head-turning rifle and it too, shoots like a dream. With 160 grain Nosler Partitions loaded with 48.3 grains of H414 and the bullet seated to .01 inch off the lands his shoots one-inch groups at 100 yards and we chronographed it to either 2,740 or 2,765 (the ole memory fails me at the moment). With my American I upped the load to 48.9 grains for a chronographed velocity of 2,855 fps and got a .216 inch group. I have not been back out to shoot more loads like this so I don't know if everything just came together for that one group, or that's what she'll do all the time with that particular load.
