Saeed- Thank you for taking the time to post an explanation of the site responsiveness problem. Just knowing what the problem is makes it much more bearable. (At least it saves me the energy of constantly swearing at my ancient computer.) Best wishes, AC My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.

The .257 Roberts with a shot out Barrel---!!! NOT!!!---. After removing blue-green goup from this rifle for a week We had a very rewarding result;-----------Four shots @ 50 yds. yielded an honest 3/16" group.with 90 grain HP. Mid Way bulk bullets. Shazam ! roger Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! Sometimes age comes alone..

I have a Remington 700 ADL in .30-06 I bought new in 1968. It has been shot many thousands of times. It was the most accurate and most repeatable rifle I have ever shot. It would always put three 150 grain NBTs into one little hole and would put a mix of different bullets and weights, both factory and handoads into the same point of aim. I have a target here where I shot 10 different loads on 10 different days from a shooting bench into a little less than 3/4 inch. A couple years ago it suddenly wouldn't keep anything under two inches. Thinking of the thousands of bullets down the barrel, many of them near max loading, I went to visit a gunsmith buddy. Borescope inspection revealed absolutly no rifling left in the first three inches - and horrble copper fouling. I spent three days scrubbing with Barnes CR10 before a patch came out clean. I went back to the bench where I proceeded to put five 150 grain NBTs into less than 1/2 inch. So much for being shot out. My dad told me once that if you're gonna kill a rattler with a chainsaw, use the top of the bar.

I've started taking two rifles with me when I think the shooting going to be fast and furious. This past weekend my buddy and I each had two shooters and got into a ton of rockchucks and we would take turns shooting, the other guy was manning the 60X spotting scope, and laughing the most, while the other guy was the shooter. After 3-5 rounds going down the tube at high velocity, the barrel will heat up very quickly. That even happens faster when the ambient temperature outside is high or in the direct sun on a dark gun. I believe that heat is one of the great destroyers of barrels and with 4 rifles it helps to keep the temps down. We put our rifles in the shade with the bolt open when not firing on a hunt like this. Maybe if we hit more we wouldn't shoot as much, but that;'s part of the fun!!!!!
