To me, they are not worth it. But other opinions will vary.

As to first shots going through a barrel, I don't think that will matter much, either.

If a second opinion is needed I second that opinion .

Kind of like the Boss Rule . Rule # 1 The boss is always right if in doubt Rule # 2 refer to rule # 1 .

IMO they're just another bit of hype !.

I have been shooting and comparing moly with uncoated bullets in a variety of calibers, from small to large for a long time. My take is that home moly kits cause more trouble than what they are worth. Given the choice between factory finished moly bullets (manufacturers know what they are doing and results are tested, consistent and repeatable) and uncoated, I will take moly bullets any day.

My experience with moly has all been positive.
Factory 223 Rem LTR, My testing revealed lower pressure with identical load except for moly coated projectile (Moly load had lower velocity). Loads that caused primer pocket expansion with non-moly (Primer was loose) were exceeded when moly was used and have survived 10 reloadings with tight primer pockets, I have also noted a larger number of shots can be fired before accuracy decreases.
17Mach4 Longer cleaning interval.
6/250Ack Same as 223.
If you meant that you are trying to run in the barrel (Smooth out any rough places)I dont think will matter.

bbh.
id advise you shoot non-moly,it will not coat your bore like moly does, put 60-100 rounds down your bore, sierra bullets have a hard jacket that burnishes the bore.
then switch over to moly if you want. regards
