am considering the following, and would appreciate any input -

I'm thinking that a 6 BR, with faster-than-standard twist (1-in-10?) in an encore pistol with a 14" barrel would shoot the 85 grain XLC to about 2700 fps and be suitable for whitetail deer under 200 yards. Alternatively, with the fast twist, it should stabilize bullets in the 90-100 grain class, at reduced velocity.

Seems to me that such a rig ought to be very easy shooting, versatile in that it could be used on varmints as well as deer.

However, this is all in the "contemplation" stages as of right now - but I like to do my homework as much as possible before purchase (from either VV or Bullberry).

FWIW, but my wife uses my 6PPC with either 75 gr. X-bullets (discontinued) or 68 gr. GS Customs (made from Unobtainium) for deer and antelope with complete satisfaction. I have an email into Barnes asking for the minimum twist rate for the 85 grainer.

Barnes just introduced the 85 gr. TSX, too.

Whatever you do, hunt with ear-plugs...... HTH, Dutch.
