Anyone have one of these? If so, do you like it? Jeff

I have one, a left hand bolt. Mine was delivered in 1997. It's a single shot with the stainless barrel. Everything else standard. Shoots very well for a sporter, most ammo stays inside .5" @ 50 yards. The real good stuff right at .35". A good shooter could probably do better. It's light weight (6lbs 3oz with the 4-12 Leupold) requires concentration at the bench. But it seems to shine in the field. First shot from a cold barrel is at zero every time. It's not a benchrest rifle, but a solid hunting rifle. This is my second, my first was a Model 24 .270. Needless to say, mine is not for sale JB [ 06-22-2002, 01:37: Message edited by: JB in SC ]

Thanks JB. I also have an ULA already. I have a Model 28 left-handed 300WSM. I was thinking about getting a .22 Rimfire to have a plinking/squirrel rifle like my other one. Did you get the Douglas barrel or go with another brand? Jeff

Jeff, I went with the standard 22" Douglas #1 contour (match chambered). It seems to be pretty smooth and cleans up easily with a wet patch followed by a couple of dry ones. The only change I would make would be a Jewell trigger. The Timney is good, but I like the multi-lever Jewell better for lighter weights. I'm not sure if it's still an option (they can be difficult to get sometimes), but it would be worth the price. Mine stays at 2.5#, but the ability to take it down (safely) to 1# would be nice. I would not venture too far from the standard specifications. You get a lot for your money as it is. A heavier barrel from another maker may work well, but the little rifle balances right at the front action screw with the #1 Douglas. The action is a duplicate (outside) of the Model 20 (same ring spacing) and has a full size recoil lug. The bolt locks up like a vault, has two extactors and two locking lugs (counting the bolt). It's a bit larger than the standard centerfire bolt and is not jewelled. I can see no reduction in quality in this rifle in comparison to the centerfires. It's the best money I've spent on a rimfire. If you already like your present NULA, you'll love this little rifle too. JB
