Week after next I will be taking possession of a 6.5x57R. The gun was regulated with RWS 130 gr. ammo with a stated velocity of 2740 FPS. This is what I initially need to try and duplicate. I can find no loading data. Anyone have a load to propel a 129 gr. bullet (Nosler Accubond or Hornady Interlock) at around 2700 FPS? I prefer to use IMR 4350 or IMR 4064. Thanks in advance Deo Vindice, Don Sons of Confederate Veterans Black Horse Camp #780

Cartridges of the world has 6.5x57 and 6.5x57r listed together. 129gr W/ IMR4350 has a mv of 2800fps. 44.5gr is what is listed.

Woah there a moment! It depends on the 6.5x57R. CIP pressure specs are radically different to take account of the weak break open single shots and combination guns. Running at 6.5x57 pressures in one of those is potentialy dangerous and definately bad for the gun. The exception is the Blaser K95 with it's tilting Jaeger block (of which I have personal experience) and potentialy others with such mechanisms. I ran my K95 6.5x57R at 270winchester pressure levels after careful load development. I used 120gr ballistic tips and got 3,000fps with N550 . 140gr speers ran 2,800fps with RL22. All shot with RWS cases (and 26" barrel) FWIW I think the 4064 is definately too fast and the 4350 verging on. Despite H4350 being the powder of choice from Quickload I found it a little too fast. Fantastic round even at 6.5x57R velocities. PS I am not alone in my loading of this cartridge in the K95 having seen one other and know of more.
