I just got a Whitetail doe this evening with a Sierra 160 loaded over IMR 4064. If i recall correctly my load was about 2 grains short of the max in Sierras manual and shoots a hair under an inch at 100 yards.
The doe ran about 15 yards with its heart nearly torn in half and one crushed shoulder blade.
The exit hole in the hide was about an inch and four thick fingers fit in the offside chest cavity wound.
There were other deer with her and I waited in hopes they might line up.

I have a 6.5 x 55 which I love. So far I have used Remington 140gn Core lokt Factory Ammo with excellent results on Red Deer here.

When I get round to doing some hand loading I will give the Woodleigh 140gn Protected Points a go. I doubt I will be disappointed.

But as has been pointed out, premium projectiles are not so important in this caliber.
