Hi all, I've recently bought one of these for my son, in very good condition, and my ex's boyfriend, who I've known for a few years, immediately 'canned' it - saying they weren't accurate ("you won't shoot much with one of them"), unsafe, etc., etc. It's his habit to put other people and their possessions down - nothing is as good as what he has (and he bought a Ruger mini 14 ???), or what he does - it pisses everybody off. Because of our draconian gun laws, I have to wait a while before I can actually take possession of the gun and test it out, but my boy is feeling a bit despondent that 'we' may have bought a 'lemon'. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

I have/had one for over 10 years. I just sold it the other day. I have never had any accuracy trouble with that rifle. I have shot a lot of gophers with that rifle over the years. I think your son is going to be very happy with that rifle. Don't put too much credit on what the EX-BOYFRIEND says. Does not sound like a very nice guy. Graylake

Thanks Graylake - by the way, it's not the ex-boyfriend - it's the 'Ex's' Boyfriend - there is a significant difference! I really appreciate your input, and will show it to my boy - the guy's comments really rattled him (he's only 13), as he is really looking forward to getting the rifle - and this bastard puts a damper on the whole thing!! Even his own son-in-law took me aside a while ago and 'had a bit of a chat' with me about his put-downs - the guy's a prick, (he's my ex's sister's husband, and he's still married to her sister) and my ex is welcome to him - they deserve each other, but when it involves my boy, I get a bit annoyed! Thanks again.

Rugeruser: Are you sure you're from Australia? Your family relationships sound pretty Arkansas to me. The Browning Trombone is a highly sought-after item here in the States, and your son should feel VERY lucky to have one! Disregard any comments from your sister's ex-lover's boyfriend/husband-in-law or whatever the guy may be. His expertise on guns appears to be equivalent to his relationship pedigree.

thanks Stonecreek. Yep definitely an Aussie! Yeah his morals do leave something to be desired, but I'm over that bit - it was, as I say, the dampening effect his comments had/have. Thank you very much for your comments - I'm going to show my son these, it'll brighten him up somewhat, I think!!
