Reading about all the 6.5 ruckus these days.
My father brought back 2 Japanese Ariska rifles from Japan after WW II. A 6.5 Jap and a 7.7 Jap.
His intent was to sportarize them. He bought ssome stocks and cut off the barrels but never finished the projects. I still have this old guns but they have never been fired.
I found a box of at least 50 year old Norma ammo for the 6.5. It really resembles a 22-250 case with not quite as sharp of a shoulder.
The bullets are loaded with a 139 gr boattail soft point spitzer. The bullets are seated very far out not unlike the 6.5's you see today.
Perhaps the Japanese were way ahead of the game.
these guns were 1940's vintage.
The shells look semi rimmed.

Interesting stuff!
Thanks for sharing something from the past which seems pretty modern.

When you said 6.5 ruckus I thought maybe Honda came out with a new mini bike.

That's actually a great name for the next 6.5 that will make all the others obsolete! animal

although I love the 6.5 bullet I personally have no use for the jap rifles. They always seemed ugly to me, not like the clean lines of the Mauser or Springfield. Just personal preference. The truth of the matter on their plus side is that after the war P.O. Ackley experimented with them quite a bit + was well pleased with the strength of the action. And yes what with all the new caliber namings these days the 6.5 Ruckus should fit in nicely.

Never mistake motion for action.

I remember reading the blowup tests they used to do on surplus rifles way back when and the Arisaka's always came out best. Maybe not pretty in conventional terms but undoubtedly strong actions.
