I will soon be assembling my new 250-ack. imp. I have a Pac-Nor 22 lightweight barrel high techs sheep hunter stock and it will be built around a short 700 adl. I'm going to try and talk my gun smith into letting me cut the action up in the fashion of the Rifles Inc. guns and so many others. He is quit the traditionalist and doesn't really like the idea. Well see. Any way if any one has some good loads for the 250 AI I would appreciate them. I have 100 grn Barnes xlc and 100grn. Speer spitzers. RL 19 & 22 and H414 powder, and some others. Any info would be helpful.

I didn't think the 250-3000 could be improved, I have always considered it perfect as is. That additional 200 FPS just adds recoil to a very nice caliber, it gains very little indeed..but I think your gunsmith and me would get along pretty well.

Here is his name and # if you want it. He does absolutely beautiful work. And since the barrel is not chambered yet who knows. It is a tuff choice for me between the two. David Christman 216 Rundell Loop rd. Delhi LA. 71232 (318) 878-1395

Got one made on an old Weatherby Varmintmaster action.Remington 100 grain PSP-Corelockts going around 3100 FPS from a 22 inch barrel. Can't remember the load but it is a warm load of IMR-4064. My old man busted a buck with it this past season. He sliped up within 60 yards and shot him right through the side of the neck.Exit hole was about the size of a 50 cent peice. Needless to say,the deer folded up immediatley!! Brian.

I use 40.5gr of H414 in my 250SAV, so in the AI you should be able to increase about 5% max. this load develops 3084fps from a 25" barrel. I use 44gr N160VV in my 250AI(24" barrel) develops 3157fps.

The last two .250 Ackleys I had woluld push a 100 grain bullet at around 3250 with 42.5 grains of IMR4350 out of 21 and 22" barrels. I could get about 75fps more with IMR 4320, but did not get very good accuracy. This little cartridge is one of my favorites and really works well.
