Well that depends on your rifle and it's 1diosyncrasies.With a 24" barrel you should be able to reach 3250-3350 with 95-100 grain bullets 2850-3000 with 120-125 grain bullets and 2700-2800 with 140 grain bullets. The 260 is pretty easy to load for and in my experience works very well with a wide array of powders from the medium burn rates for the lighter bullets up to the slow burning powders for the 120-140 class bullets. My best results with 100 grain bullets has been with H-414 120-125 H-4831 and with 140's H-4831 and IMR-7828. There is tons of published data and you should have no problems finding something your rifle likes in short order. |

| I have a 257 WBY Mark 5 It shoots the same loads
you shoot with them being 87gr,100gr,117gr and 120gr. I use RL25 powder with all of them but the 87gr bullet I use RL22 |

| 43.0 grains of VARGET and 100 grain Nosler BT's. Works in so many different 260's I've lost count! Honest to GOD velocities in the 3200+ range in all of them. Accuracy plus speed! For the big bullets, the 140's)140 AMAX's) Use 45 grains of H4831sc and don't look back! Devastaing load on varmints or big varmints(whitetails) at all distances!! GHD

| Wow ,,, cool ..all ... I,m really after a fur friendly load , so I will tinker with things and try them on liter plastic pop bottles .. ,,, I don,t want to blow a beautiful red fox all over the snow .... I,m thinking about the 110 gr Barnes banded solid ...@ 2900 - 3000 .fps ......
.If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

| Many game departments prohibit the use of non-expanding bullets for hunting. Be sure to check them thoroughly before going to the trouble of working up the load. A heavy, tougher bullet such as the Sierra 140 grain GameKing at moderate velocity (2500-2600 fps) will always exit, but the exit will generally be quite small and easily repairable.

| Just seemed like 49.5gr was alot, but I wonder too if Lapua holds more than Rem, as 6BR brass necked up to 7BR held more than my 7BR Rem brass I had for a custom rifle. |

I was wondering the same thing I can get 48-48-1/2 grains of 4831 in the brass I have for my 260 Rem. The Rem brass I have is 48 and the 7-08 Win brass I necked down is 48-1/2 with either the 120 Bt or the 125 Partition. There is some compression in both but not too much. I have been using some Rem 7-08 necked down but with faster powder and lighter bullets but I figure it should be close to the Rem 260 brass. |

| Hipster, I do know WW brass, 7/08 has more capacity than Rem. BUT, years ago Hornady 25/06 and 270 brass (used then to reform to 6.5x55-before much/any brass mfg. here in US) were WAY different in capacity, so you never know. Could be Hornady outsourced brass back then, not sure, and by different vendors for different calibers, point is, assuming 2 cartridges very similar i.e. 25/06-270, 260/708 w/same co. headstamp May or MAY not be similar in capacity. I'd bet odds are higher you are right and 708 RP brass is close to 260 RP.
