Depending on the weight of bullet H414 and Varget perform well in the 6.5 x55. If you go much heavier than 140 grain then slower powders will give better results. You can call Sierra to get good information and go to the Hodgdon web site for load data for a particular bullet weight. When I have a question those are the two places I go first. Speer, Sierra, Lyman, Hornady, Hodgdon have reliable reloading data. You won't find it on so and so's web page.

H4350, RL-19, RL-22 are all great in the swede, never seen any info for H414, and yes i shoot a 6.5X55 in a Rem 700 classic....

RL22 works good in my M38, but I use IMR 4350 for my CZ 550. The 4350 gives me better velocity and accuracy in the shorter barrels. I have a feeling that RL22 would be better in the longer barrelled M96. Just my opinion. US Army 1977-1998

Forgot to say W760 (same as H414) did not produce very well for me. US Army 1977-1998

RL15 works great for me with lighter bullet weights. But for heavies at max velocity I am using H4831sc and getting stellar results. I'm told RL22 will produce higher volicties but since I can't find any for sale I am still using the 4831. I'd easily forego an extra 100 fps if he accuracy isn't as good as the 4831. Mike..what bullet are you using with the 4831sc and what velocity are you getting... I have some RL22 but haven't messed with it in my Swede.. Z

I've tried it with everything from a 120 BT, 125 Partition, and 140 grain cup and core bullets or partitions. Just got in 300 140 gr Accubonds that I will be starting development for. Using the max load listed in Nosler's book, the last one, not the newest book. I haven't actually chronoed them, but the 3/4" groups speak for themselves. I am loading 100 gr BT's over 37 grains of RL15 for the boys. Mild loads that even my 8 YO can shoot well. My 11 YO shot a clover leaf at 100 yds with his Mauser last trip to the range. he is so looking forward to Whitetail season. Aut vincere aut mori

Thanks Mike! I will be interested in how your load development goes on the 140s...I have been running 130gr Accubonds over 47.5gr of RL19 and getting MOA accuracy and 2800fps...it is a pleasant enough load to shoot and has worked great on deer and antelope. The rifle is a CZ550 and I stopped load development with that 130gr load...I have lots of 140gr bullets I really should try...Maybe I should mess with some of that RL22! Z

I have used r22 in three different rifles but with 120 grain bullets works great om big whitetail, going to be working up loads for elk with 140 grain partitions, 130 accubonds. No matter where you go or what you do there you are! Yes tis true and tis pity but pity tis, tis true.

H414, if you know how to load with it is one of the most awesome powders out there. Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

I generally just stick with H4350. It's accurate with my 257R and 6.5x55 and it's very temp stable.
