Hi,

I recently got my hands on a very well preserved Steyr (Mannlicher) Zephyr 22 long, mannlicher stocked, manufactured in -67.
Being "fully size stocked", she is really sweet to shoot and keeps 5 round well into 1/2 ft circle at 100 m/yards with iron sights.

I haven't found too much information about the Zephyrs though and would like to know more about history, pros/cons (if any), how to dissamble/assemble the bolt for cleaning etc.
Anyone owning one or able to give some information??

Howdy David,
Finally purchased my first Steyr Zeyphr last year after 30 years of ogling them. I'd say that they are a really supreme .22 rimfire of the vintage and ilk of the Winchester 52 Sporter and its Remington counterpart. The only problem I've noted with a Zeyphr is the lack of spare magazines on the market, and the lack of spare parts. However, Steyr made these rifles to last, so I really would not worry too much. Lovely photos by the way.

The Styer Zepher was the most accurate of any .22LR that I ever owned... what possessed me to sell it I can't remember, but it was a very sweet rifle. I am sure that your rifle wll shoot even better than you mention! Good luck and good shooting with it.

Thanks for sharing that you too find the Zephyrs nice and well built. I'm well aware of the fact that they are hard to find, but surprised to find that so little is written about them.

KimR, Regarding "Kesslrings" I guess that could apply to the kind of "double square bridge, without the bridge", that at least my rifle is equipped with. My rifle came with a early 70.ies Redfield scope and scope mounts and I'll try to post some photos with it mounted to show you what I mean.
