I have Browning Low Wall/ .22 Hornet being shipped to me and was wondering how well they generally shot...also was wondering if they have the 1:16 twist?....From my research LiL'gun is one of the better powders to use along with H110,296,1680,2400 and 680... I have lots of Lil'gun and 680 (surplus H116)... Smiler....thanks mic

I use 9.7 grains of 2400 behind a 45 grain bullet.

L'il Gun is the only powder I'll use in a Hornet. You may experience wide ES values with lighter bullets when using it, but the 45 grain bullets will still get you 3000 fps from your low wall. Enjoy.

butchloc...from what I'm seeing in the reload manuals you don't get that much more vel. out of a K-hornet...If one was after more vel. I would think the next logical step up would be a .221 fireball...Are there other reasons besides vel. that you went with the K-hornet???...Is your Hornet a Browning Low Wall?... Do you know the twist rate???.....thanks for any info that you maybe able to provide.. Smiler..mic

Years back in a Khornet from the original Kimber of Oregon (SN # KH60) I was able to get 3250 with the Nosler 40 grain BT and Win 296. This load was devastating on woodchucks to about 200 yards. I also believe that the laod was way over maximum! shame Regardless I now shoot a lovely little BRNO which was made the year before I was, and is in better shape! jump The current load is with AA 1680 and the Hornady 35 grain red tip. Enjoy your hornet the little ones are addictive!!

You are essentially correct that the K-Hornet does not do much for MV. However, it does improve case life quite a bit, and for that reason it is an improvement over the standard Hornet..... Standard Hornets tend to eat brass.
