Gents, worked up a load in my 260 Rem, 23 inch barreled Steyr ProHunter using Ramshot Hunter, and a 125 gr Nosler Partition. Case: Remington Primer: Federal 210 Bullet: Nosler 125 grain Partition Powder, Ramshot Hunter: 46.3 grains Chronograph results, 6 shot ave: 2925 FPS Hits about where all my other loads do. This load is for my rifle only, work up beginning at 42 grains of Hunter. Ramshot told me 44 grains was max, but I saw absolutely no signs of excessive pressure. I am thinking this load is all over a 270 win with a 130 grain bullet. I suspect this will become my standard muley load. The 100 grain partitions I stil think will be the cat's meow on Blacktail deer. Need to shoot it for distance now and see how it does. I'll still take a look at the 130 Scirocco, but I definately like the looks of this load. Again, this is for my rifle only, work up safely in your rifle. Sounds like you found a winning combo. But why not just stick with it for blacktails as well? The trajectory difference between it and the 100 grain Partition will be minimal, and the heavier bullets really make the caliber shine. Sounds like a winner. I would just use it for all of my deer size game hunting. Why bother going to a 100gr? LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT!

FWIW, I've had significantly better success with the Hornady 129 grain bullets, both SpirePoint and SST, than I have had with the 125 grain Partition. I am a big Nosler user, but for whatever reason, I have never gotten the best groups out of that particular Partition. Jeff

I have a 40x Remmy in 260 that just loves 43gr of IMR 4350 under the Nosler 125 or the 129gr Hornady SST. Rem neck sized brass, Fed 210M primers, with OAL of 2.86" Free men should not be subjected to permits, paperwork and taxation in order to carry any firearm. NRA Benefactor

Sounds like a good solid, max load. I like 129 SST in the 260 myself... though my 6.5x57 will not shoot it very well at all, but it loves the 129 SP, go figure. Different rifles...

43 grains of IMR 4350 behind a 125-grain Nosler Partition is my whitetail load as well out of a Remington Model Seven, although my OAL is 2.78" and I use Winchester LR primers. --- Eric Ching "The pen is mightier than the sword...except in a swordfight."

Guys, I didnt have my benchrest stuff with me when I mainly checked chrony speeds, but offhand, I had a 4 inch circle spread at 100 yds, which told me I was hitting in the same place as a few of my other loads. I will check for accuracy next, and agree, if it isnt as tight as my 129 Hornady SP's, I m staying with that. I do have a 100 gr partition that also is very accurate, but seems some of you experienced 260 shooters think I should just stay with the 125, or 129 bullet, understand. At the least, teh 100 grain partiton can be a coyote load. Appreciate the comments, that's the benefit of these forums, to get, in this case, experienced 260 shooter opinions. Thanks, Socialism works great until you run out of the other person's money......

The 100 Partition is a fine antelope and deer bullet at 260 velocities...

I have never loaded the 125. but i have loaded alot of 120s in sierra with RL-15 at 42.0 grains it is a little over max in the book, but i have no pressure sings. it is very accurate and fast about 2930 shot over a chroney. in rugger M-77 22 in. i also load this powder in my 7MM-08.

vines i shoot a custom swede and have found that all books under load because of the risk of older arms being used, from my own tests i have found that i can always go over book by a considerable margin and still not have pressure signs i only use lapua brass and cci primers. i have found also that in my rifle that RL-22 gives the results i am looking for and that is not always speed!!.My standard deer load is the Hornady SST but i had a recent hunt in Montana and gave a bear a 140g partition and it dropped to the shot JMO

Makes me wonder what's been wrong with my handloads with the 125 grain Nosler. Have had nothing but bad luck there, however the 120 grain factory loads do great in both of my .260s. Maybe I just need to work some more. LLS
