Read somewhere the other day that Hornady decided to release the 17 HMR only after they discovered the performance of Hodgdons Lil' Gun powder. They also were going to use the 20 gr Vmax bullet but could only get 2400 fps - so they modified the bullet to get down to a 17 gr weight. So my thought here is Hornady or anybody else looking at using Lil' Gun powder to increase the performance of the 22 mag - which I would prefer due to the heavier bullet weight. Any rumors or thoughts?

Interesting idea.
