Just got my new Steyr Pro hunter scoped up with a VXIII 4.5-14 and now I want to load some ammo.I have a good selection of bullets. The ones I want to try first are the 85gr HP. I picked these up someplace in a swap, they must be old as the hand written price tag says $6.65.
I have the Sierra manual, but I thought I would ask here first if one of you fellows has a favorite load with this bullet.
Thanks Greg

Greag,

they actually make a very accurate usable load when loaded to about 2400 to 3000 fps...depending on what you are using them on... such as coyotes...

like any vamint bullet, they will get explosive as you get the velocity up...

For grins and giggles...

try any of the following loads...

20 to 24 grains of Blue Dot..

20 to 25 grains of SR 4759

25 to 30 grains of IMR 4198

25 to 30 grains of RL 7....

These are light pleasant to shoot loada with that or bullet weights up to 100 grains... and surprisingly are flat shooting, plus will easily take game in the coyote to antelope sized game...

If you just want rocket loads and blowing things up....

work up, but max out at 47 to 48 grains of IMR 4064, IMR 4895, RL 15, W 748, BlC2, Varget...

most of these will get you in the 3500 to 3600 fps range...just work up.. you know that, but that statement is for some potential nimrod that just likes to go right to the most amount of powder he can get in a case, and thinks if it was safe in someone elses gun it is automatically safe in his.. homer
