I'm going to do some reloading for a Ruger M77 with a 22" barrel in 243. I'm not familiar with this caliber. I would appreciate some suggestions on bullet weights for use with this firearm. It will most often be used on varmints and predators such as coyotes and bob cats with the possibly of a blacktail deer.
Thanks

If you only want one load use a stout 100 grain bullet. I use 2 loads. 60 grain sierra hp for playing around with varmints and 100 grain Partitions for deer.

I Have the .243 Mod77 varmint. I can E-Mail you a lot of info but to date the best has been 80gr. Sierra psp. 44gr. accurate 4350, Rp.Ni.,cases and Wlr primers At 100yds with a hot barrel. 10 shots 1/4" verticle and 1/2" horizontal.Probably it could have been better with a better shooter. roger

YOu have a versatile cartridge. About any bullet above 75 grain HPs will do an excellent job, including on the little Blacktail in our part of the world. Bullets in the 85 grain and up give you the extra punch for the deer size animals.

My personal favorites are the 95 grain Ballistic tip, and Partition, the Sierra 100 grain SMP, the Hornady 100 gr RN, the 90 grain Noslers and Speer , but the favorite all around for deer of any size, is the 105 grain Speer SP.

If interested email me and I can forward you my load data I use. Just learn to work up your loads because all rifles and techniques do have variations in them.

Cheers and Good shooting
