Hi there.

Just ordered myself a 22lr barrel for my Blaser R93. Now the question of scopes, which of the following would you get:

Zeiss Classic Diavari 1,5-6x42
Swarovski Z3 3-9x36
Zeiss Duralyt 2-8x42
Zeiss Classic Diavari 1,1-4x24 (Really like the look of these scopes)

So what would you recommend??

Cheers

I am glad to see that you have not chosen to over scope the rifle. I would vote for the 3 x 9 Swaro offering as the little .22 needs to hve all the precision in placement as possible.

Ya that's what I like about the Swaro, its about 100g lighter than the others. I'm thinking that if the need arises I could always use the same scope on my 375 Barrel. The problem with the 2 Zeiss Classics then though is the eye relief (80mm), not sure if it is enough or not as I tend to put my eye and therefore my face much closer and have occasionally gotten a few cuts. Just thought I'd here what everyone has to say..

Don't know that I would ever spend that much loot on a 22 rimfire scope, the Leupold 3-9 EFR is as fine a rimfire scope as I will ever own. FS

Scopes with AO that adjust from a low of 10 yards and up are handy on rimfire rifles. In wide open country a 3-9 X AO scope , in wooded area a 1-4 X AO scope. My 22 RF rifles are sited in at 60 yards and most shots taken are within 75 yards. As a scope power is increased the feild of view decreases so when hunting jackrabbits when there may be some running shots the scopes are set at its lowest power. When shooting prairie dogs the scopes are set on the higest power. A 6 X AO Target scope is on my tuned up Ruger 10-22 T rifle. A 4-12 X AO scope is on my Anchultz 1710 22 RF rifle. All of my hunting is in wide open country so I like a larger power scopes but I started out with a 4 X RF scope back in 1950 on my first 22 RF rifle. Shot a lot of prairie dogs and jack rabbits with my first 22 rifle.

What Fasteel said--ditto. The Leupold 3x-9x EFR is crystal clear and could be switched off and would withstand the beating of a Double Ultra Boomer Magnum.

I too have one of these - mounted on a CZ452.
I have yet to be in a situation where I wished for more scope (pun intended).
Lightweight, more than enough magnification & excellent light transmission.

I too use a Leupold 3-9x EFR compact. It is very compact, light, and has exceptional glass. You are right in limiting your choices to quality scopes. Its a decision you won't regret.

Thanks for the input. But back to the original question : which of the following would you get:

Zeiss Classic Diavari 1,5-6x42
Swarovski Z3 3-9x36
Zeiss Duralyt 2-8x42
Zeiss Classic Diavari 1,1-4x24 (Really like the look of these scopes)

I am willing to spend a lot of money on a quality scope, as I believe in buying once properly.

Thanks again

Your first post asked which scope WE would get & the majority answer wasn't on your list, so maybe you should consider checking out the scope several members have suggested if you are truly interested in "buying once properly".

Far greater cost doesn't always translate into better performance.

I would go with something in the 1.5-5 or 6 category. I did with my Cooper 57M mounting a VX3 1.5-5 in S&K rings/bases. Don't let the 5x worry you. I'm still able to shoot sub 1/2 MOA at my zero range of 70 yds.
