I have looked all over the net and even emailed Lapua in search of a "factory" max OAL length but have not been able to find it. Does anyone know what is the maximum length of loaded rounds? Thanks!

The Max. OAL for any cartridge is determined by the magazine, chamber throat and profile of the bullet, not a book or computer program. The best OAL is determined by shooting tests, not SAAMI.

If you are doing extensive custom work on an action for a relatively unknown round, you need to know what sort of factory loaded ammo may be out there. When everything is being built around a cartridge, the cartridge dimensions are sorta important. Would not be good to have everything machined and wood cut and then find out that every factory load released in the next many years will not even fit in the magazine.

I assumed you were attempting to reload for the round and wanted a book OAL for that. I build no customs myself. That's a small cartrige, does seem its basic OAL would be determined by the action/magazine as the action comes from the maker AND, to some degree, how you throat the chamber. Are you building a rife but don't have a factory round to work from? Kinda hard to fit and make the magazine, follower and feed rails to feed the planned aammo before the fact of having a cartridge. ??? Good luck.

I have some dummy rounds a friend loaded for me. He did not know the SAMMI max length, but even factory rounds are all going to be different. yes, it would be VERY hard to maked the modifications with no rounds at all! I sure would not want to tackle that one!!!
