I would like to hear if there is anybody who has experience with 6,5x55 AI. Is there a good gain of velocity or not really worth it? What barrel length is appropriate for this caliber? Is 60 cm enough, or is it necessary with a 65 cm barrel?

I have owned to 6,5x55 guns. I have been very satisfied with the performance.

My 26" 1:8 barrel in 6.5x55AI will run it's accurate load with the 140gr a-max at just under 3000fps. It is a nice improvement to the case.

it is very little. I think I usually lose some .005"-maybe .008" or so. This is one reason why I DO NOT trim my new brass until after I fireform. This way, all the cases are formed to the same dimensions before you evaluate their lengths. The viseable difference is quite small.

It is very close in internal capacity afterwards to the 6.5-284, and best of all you can get Lapua brass.
