The Ottmar Guild rifle that was raffled on AR in February took a buck at dusk this evening! I watched 8 doe and yearlings for about 45 minutes. They kept looking up the hill from time to time. So I kept watching (and there is some meat in the freezer from Bow season.) This handsome 7 point fella walked in 10 minutes before the end of legal shooting light. Have to admit I did not notice the old broken main beam tine. Must admit I'd have shot him anyway, Hit him once on the lower shoulder as the rifle is only a 6mm Rem. He went down and I thought I was golden until he got up and started to move very slowly to my right ... so I hit him again. He fell forward and that was that. 95 gr Nosler partition seems have worked. He's a right respectable fella for this neck of the woods. (BTW ... you cannot believe how careful I was with the lovely rifle!) Mike -------------- DRSS, Womper's Club, NRA Life Member/Charter Member NRA Golden Eagles ... fantastic! NRA Life Member Gun Control - A theory espoused by some monumentally stupid people; who claim to believe, against all logic and common sense, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun.

Woohoo! Nice shot placement, Mr Mike! That fella's a bruiser! I would say that is a very nice way to break in that gorgeous rifle.* Congrats! -Your big grin is contagious. +++++++ *BTW... seeing that picnic table in the photo reminded me of the day I got to bring my 10 year-old son over to see the Ottmar upon her arrival to your hacienda. What an honor it was for him to sit at the picnic table and be able to hold a museum-quality firearm. Every aspect of craftsmanship truly makes that rifle a work of art. The sunlight that day made the engraving and woodwork dance. Mike-- you are a gentleman and a scholar, and were obviously the one intended to fully appreciate and enjoy such a fine instrument. It looks like the two of you are off to a good start.
