A lot depends on how much money you want to spend. I have a Ruger Number 1 in 22 Hornet that I like very much. There may be one in 223 in my future. Don

| I'm the cheap bugger here, I guess. I've got a N.E.F. in .223 with a Tasco World Class 3-9X and it'll shoot with the high dollar guns all day. Factory Winchester hollow points into an inch @ 100 yards. I'm going to start loading for it this winter. I'd like to try some Ballistic tips. I'm sure I could get it to shoot a bit better yet, even though the coyotes don't care how tight it'll shoot!

| I have had great luck with .223 Ruger #1's in both the medium and heavy barrel (varmint) versions. They were scoped with 3x9 Leupold and 4x12 Burris scopes respectively. |

| My picks would be:
NEF Handi Rifle, Ruger #1, Dakota Mdl 10
Not necessarily in that order, but sometiimes the checkbook has a lot to say about what it'll be.

| You might want to see if there are any of the Remington ADL's left around someplace that could be on sale. They have been discontinued and replaced with a newer model. I bought one in a .223 and it has performed very well with groups in the .7 to .9 area. |

| Thanks guys for all the replies. I was leaning toward adding another Ruger #1. I love the two that I presently shoot. It is about the top end of my finantial resources. I have never seen a Dakota up close and personal. Perhaps a used one will come up someday. Thanks Ed |

| I have a Cooper .223.
But my next accurate .223 will be an AR15 set up for long range varmint work. |
